How can Taekwondo help my child?
Posted: September 02, 2015
Even though the following examples are all fictional names, they are everyday concerns from parents and their stories share one common solution- Martial Arts. At SKY Martial Arts Murrieta, our Instructors use positive reinforcement and goal setting to work with students in areas that may need just a bit of extra practice. We work closely with our parents to get feedback on students behavior, both at home and in school, ensuring they excel not just within the walls of our dojang, but as productive members of the community we all live in. No matter what the goal, SKY Martial Arts Murrieta can help your family dream bigger!
Laid Back Lucy
Lucy is a GREAT kid- She’s smart, helpful, and very rarely does she ever truly misbehave, but her parents worry she may just be too laid back. They’ve noticed that sometimes rather than stand up for herself, Lucy will allow other kids at school to talk her into things that land her into trouble. She’s got all the qualities of a great leader, if only she’d learn to speak up for herself…
Pay Attention Please, Patrick
Patrick has always had a little difficulty when it comes to listening, it’s not that he actively acts out- he just can’t seem to follow a simple set of instructions through to completion. After talking with his teacher, his parents have been really trying to work with him on his listening skills, but he’s just not progressing as quickly as they’d hoped and, to be honest, no one is enjoying the process. If only there was some way to make following directions fun for him….
Energetic Emily
Emily has always been high energy, she’s wanted to run and play since the day she could walk, but now that she’s started school her teacher has mentioned Emily has been distracting other students during study time. Her parents love her energetic spirit, but they wish she could learn a bit more self control for the times they need her to sit still. If only there was an outlet where she could burn off all that energy AND learn the self discipline she needs to really excel in school….
Bullied Ben
Ben is having a rough time with bullies at school lately, there’s a few boys that have decided to start picking on him and it’s really taking it’s toll. Ben says school is no fun anymore, he’s started pretending to be sick to avoid the bullies and his parents aren’t sure of the best way to help him. He’s such an awesome kid, it’s hard to imagine why anyone would be so mean to him. They wish he could just stand up for himself, if only he had somewhere else to learn self confidence and maybe even make a few new friends.
The answer to all these issues and more is simple. Each day every single parent and student walks through the doors of SKY Martial Arts dojang with these same common goals. Some have been working for years to be considered masters of skills that were once areas of weakness, others have only just started on their journey of self improvement. Be it your first day or your fifth year, the great thing about martial arts is we are all unified in our commitment to bettering ourselves.
